Forging a path on the American alt/indie scene is Daniel Park with his second recording, Search and Rescue, an EP of seven songs. Park is a fine singer and songwriter: his voice is friendly and persuasive, his lyrics are coherent, intelligent and personal. His music is both creative and infectious, thanks to a melodic pop rock framework. Everything here is perfect friendly content for any alternative or Internet radio station.
Be Right Here leaps off the disc with pop-flavored sensibility. The title track moves with solemn introspection and melodic hooks. However, the later acoustic version finds Park at his most passionate. Drummer Matthew Dynek drives the fire of Sparks Fly. Roller Coaster is another pop number that, considering the lyric, could have had a little more spunk. Park's lyrical prowess shines on the Love in Your Hands, a wispy pop song reflecting life in transition.
All in all, Daniel Park's Search and Rescue is a delightful slice of melodic rock from a very creative and passionate singer/songwriter. If the alt/indie scene is yours, then you should check this out. Recommended.
