Ramonda is the moniker Argentinean singer Santiago Ramonda new solo project. Most fans of the rock and metal genres will know him as the lead singer of Stormwarning, who released their self-titled debut album in 2023. A few months later Santiago would guest on Mirka Rantanen's Circus Of Rock and second album, Lost Behind The Mask. Now, Frontiers Music offers his debut solo effort, Ramonda which features guitarist Suraz Sun from Girish And The Chronicles and drummer Nicholas Papapicco (Cleanbreak, Robin McAuley, et al).

Santiago comments on the new album: This album is a battle cry for all those who love rock and refuse to let it die. With this album, we want to keep the flame of classic hard rock alive and take it to new places. For all those fighting to keep the spirit of rock alive, this album is a message of hope and resilience. And to see my name on that banner is a dream fulfilled, an honor that drives me forward with passion and dedication.

What we have with Ramonda is Santiago not straying from his chosen genre of AOR inspired and guitar driven melodic metal rock. At the forefront of the songs, he sings clean, melodic, and with fine range. It's often said that an excellent and accomplished actor can take the worst script and make a better movie. Not so with vocalists. They need music crafted to their talents. Santiago has been gifted with some great songwriting and songs which, I'm guessing, comes from sure hands of Frontier's Alessandro Del Vecchio. There's some solid material here, including my best picks: Without Love, Bad Girl, Under The Moonlight, The Walls Are Crumbling Down, and High Voltage Hearts. Those latter two songs are likely two of the most heavy songs on the album.

All considered, if you enjoy AOR inspired and guitar driven melodic metal rock propelled by strong melodic vocals, you will enjoy Santiago Ramonda's solo project and self-titled debut, Ramonda. Easily recommended.
