Winter's Verge - Beyond Vengeance Review

Winter's Verge: Beyond Vengeance

Progressive Power Metal
4.0/5.0

Most fans of international heavy metal know isle of Cyprus to be fertile soil for bands of different types. Yet few have had the international label success of Winter's Verge, now on Massacre records and delivering their third album, Beyond Vengeance.

Winter's Verge: happy together.

Winter's Verge practices traditional melodic power metal, but as they've matured they've also attempted to be more technical. You can hear more progressive arrangements on this disk, yet nothing terribly complex or inaccessible. Cunning Lullabies, Semeni, and Paper Is Blank are some examples. Yet, Winter's Verge still offers a strong groove of catchy melodies and hooks as on Not Without a Fight, One Last Night, or Threads of My Life. But they also never forget strength and heaviness into their power metal as Angels of Babylon proves.

On Beyond Vengeance, Winter's Verge offers a well-rounded album of melodic and progressive power metal, proving the bands strength and maturity. Recommended.
