What could be better than another bombastic album of Rhapsody of Fire's epic power metal? One that records the band playing their cinematic symphonic metal live. That's what you get with Live From Chaos to Eternity, recorded during their 2012 European tour of the same name.
The good news is multifold. Rhapsody of Fire offers a breadth of tunes from classics to present day with, of course, some including the ominous intonations of Christopher Lee. Also, if you investigate the common set lists of the 2012 tour, you'll discover that this two disc set doubles your listening pleasure.
Also, the production and mix is crisp and even across the entire album. Considering the nature of their bombastic metal, I wondered if vocalist Fabio Lione might get crushed by it. Not so. The mix easily has Lione riding above the fray. Even more good news: Live From Chaos to Eternity is available on vinyl as well. Awesome.
Now for the bad news that really isn't bad news. This is more a comment about what could have been something equally awesome. Why no video recording? Where's the DVD? Even one of the concerts with the shorter set list would have been a pleasure.
With that said, if you're a Rhapsody of Fire fan, then don't miss this live album. It's overflowing with epic power metal awesomeness. Best tracks? All of them.
