Lady Flint: Lady Flint (EP)
Lady Flint 2014 EP CD Album Review

Lady Flint: Lady Flint

Blues Rock
3.0/5.0

Somewhere in France drummer Gran Dav got together with guitarist/singer Tony More and decided that this pairing could produce some cool music. They managed to create a disc that is not bad but will not set the world on fire either. With a retro blues based rock and roll approach mixed with punk attitude, these guys come off sounding like a cross between Mott The Hoople and The Clash. This is not a bad thing but they need to get a bit more creative with their songwriting.

The best song on this five track disc is Scare Off Crows. Kicking off the EP, this old style rocker sends you back to the days when bands like Cream ruled. It has a guitar melody that will hook you and keep playing in your head long after the song is done. Like I say though, this is the high point. The rest of the disc is pretty much run of the mill garage rock that sounds like a couple of stoners tried inventing something new while listening to their dad’s old vinyl records. The Last Time I Was Sober is a slow blues rocker that sounds like a plethora of similar songs out there. Not A Wise Man, Outsider and Problems have a bit of punkish attitude ala The Clash.

There is some promise here and I certainly have nothing against good old fashion rock and roll. I just hope that they add a little more of their own spin to any future endeavors.
