FM: Indiscreet 30
FM - Indiscreet 30 CD Album Review

FM: Indiscreet 30

AOR Melodic Hard Rock
4.0/5.0

Iconic UK band FM has been somewhat of both an unsung and legendary AOR melodic hard rock band. Some thirty years ago, they released their first album, Indiscreet to some fame and fortune. They went on to some additional modicum of success before bailing on the music scene. Flash forward in your Dorlean and we find FM re-recording that acclaimed first album in a modern fashion with Indiscreet 30. Additionally, the album comes with bonus material: a new song in Running On Empty, and recording of several songs from EPs, mostly from Only Foolin' including Let Love Be The Leader, Rainbow's End, Shot In The Dark, Bad That's Good In You (Futurama), and Love & Hate (not sure which album.) Finally, there's an acoustic version of That Girl from Indiscreet.

Do be honest I've never heard the original Indiscreet album. FM barely made it on the radar in the States back in the day. So to make some kind of comparison on my part borders on being somewhere between dishonest or ludicrous. Suffice to say, the songs sound fine. They sound like FM. If you have the original CD, knock yourself out making your own judgment in comparison. I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. Fans who came on board late, like me, with current FM will discover that the past is made present and, again, this sounds like FM, FM today. I can't think of much more to say. FM have been master of AOR melodic rock for better than 30 years. Indiscreet, old or new, and the many other albums over their storied career only confirms that fact. Recommended.

The Bottom Line

FM have been master of AOR melodic rock for better than 30 years. Indiscreet, old or new, and the many other albums over their storied career only confirms that fact. Recommended.
