As consistent as the change of seasons, The Murder Of My Sweet (TMOMS) returns with a new studio album after a two year hiatus. Brave Tin World is the band's fifth album, and features the stable line up of Angelica Rylin (v), producer Daniel Flores (k,d,bgvs), Christopher Vetter (g), and Patrik Janson (b), now with shorter hair.
Once more fans can expect an album of TMOMS' signature, symphonic melodic metal rock carried along by Ms Rylin's sweet and soulful voice. While consistently wrapped in dense and cinematic string arrangements, this album seems heavier than previous recordings, especially from the riffs and rhythm section. I might even suggest guitarist Christopher Vetter is given more opportunities for larger guitar solos. After these things, most every song rocks with AOR accessibility from strong melody, harmony, and memorable refrains.
All these things come together quite nicely with Tin Soldiers (a favorite), Head Of The Snake, Hit The Ground, and Everyone Wins. That last song relies heavily on spry keyboard work, a bouncy rock rhythm and groove, and a catchy chorus. For Memento, TMOMS mellows a little for a anthem, which features, at the front and back, Rylin's soulful voice over piano. But perhaps softer is the closer Alchemy Of Sins, largely a slower moving symphonic ballad with a darker lyrical theme and a disturbing chorus. Essentially, Brave Tin World is The Murder Of My Sweet doing what they have always done and do well, creating cinematic and symphonic, melodic metal rock. If you're a fan, you will enjoy this album.
