Scandinavia nations, especially Finland and Sweden, have been the producers of classic rock bands since the Eighties and into the new century, despite the genre's near collapse in the Nineties. One of the finest purveyors of classic melodic metal rock is Malmo's Crazy Lixx who has dropping albums since 2007's Loud Minority. Still featuring founders vocalist Danny Rexon and drummer Joel Cierara, the band returns with their seventh studio album Street Lethal.
Honestly, I feel no need to go into great detail with this review. Simply, if you dig the band and especially the genre, don't hesitate: buy Street Lethal. Otherwise, Crazy Lixx delivers another terrific platter of their melodic metal rock with generous amounts of hard rock groove, metal edge, and AOR accessibility within simply catchy tunes. The songs run the spectrum of great sounds: heavy metal rock with Rise Above or Reach Out; the fast, heavy, and brief Street Lethal; classic gang vocals with The Power, a heavier anthem with One Fire-One Goal; or the steady heavy ballad In The Middle Of Nothing. Those latter two songs have some AOR subtlety, but the AOR feel arises nicely with Thief In The Night. All in all, and to repeat myself, with Street Lethal, Crazy Lixx offers fans another consistent and entertaining album of their classic melodic metal rock. No fuss. Recommended. Nuff said.
