Inglorious: We Will Ride

Hard and Heavy Rock
4.0/5.0

Betwixt their previous album, Ride To Nowhere and a global pandemic, British rockers returned to the studio. The band is practically brand new, again. Joining founding members vocalist Nathan James and drummer Phil Beaver are newcomers guitarists Danny Dela Cruz and Dan Stevens and bassist Vinnie Colla. To record their new studio album, Inglorious enlisted a producer, Romesh Gogandoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine, Motörhead), a first for the band. The result is their latest and fourth recording, We Will Ride.

Inglorious

The album finds Inglorious in their familiar musical territory: melodic hard and heavy rock, perhaps with a subtle blues motif, and always with Nathan James assertive, yet melodic and passionate vocals. With James as the principal songwriter, most songs revolve around his vocal melodies and vocal arrangements. Often the song arrangement involves a juxtaposition or contrast of hard heaviness with softer vocal parts. This formula is notable within Messiah, God Of War, We Will Ride, and quite largely within Eye Of The Storm. Within that latter song his voice is carried by acoustic guitar in the beginning and Hammond organ later. For a prevalent dose of the blues groove, you'll hear some fine slide guitar within Medusa. Yet to be totally impartial, I favored any song which featured solid rock groove, heavy at that, yet rounding out with a tough guitar solo. Those favorites included Cruel Intentions, He Will Provide, She Won't Let Go, and We Will Meet Again. After brief consideration, if you like your rock hard and heavy, yet with melody and significant groove, or you're simply a fan, you will enjoy Inglorious's latest, We Will Ride. Recommended.
