Generally, I no longer review live albums. The days of live albums being a two LP or single CD offering are gone. Now, everything live is not only an audio experience but an audio-visual experience on DVD. I did not get the DVD for One Desire's Live with The Shadow Orchestra (Wasa Sinfonietta). But this experience deserves mention for one very good reason: Finland's One Desire is one of the best classic AOR melodic hard rock bands in the genre and, perhaps, the world, right now. (So, I also apologize, in advance, if this "review" sounds more like a sales pitch. I'm not a shill for the label.)
The other reasons are obvious from the videos below. Immense production value: with orchestra One Desire's music is more expansive, even epic to bombastic. The fandamntastic pyrotechnics also help. And the crowd is appreciative and roaring. All these things put energy into the band members, making their live performance equally energetic, and fabulous. Check out the videos. If you're a fan of the band, you'll want to buy the DVD immediately. (If somebody wants to splurge and buy one for me, well, thank you.)
