Timeless Fairytale: A Story To Tell

Melodic/Heavy/Power Metal
5.0/5.0

Timeless Fairytale is a new multi-national project created by vocalist Henrik Brockmann (N'Tribe, Missing Tide, ex-Royal Hunt, ex-Masquerade) and Italian guitarist and songwriter Luca Sellitto (Stamina, session musician). They are complimented by the rhythm section of Stamina bass player Carmine Vivo and Swedish drummer Viktor Enebjorn (Forever Still and Darknd). Sellitto describes the bands goal: "When singer Henrik and I decided to form Timeless Fairytale, we settled on creating a very melodic and energetic album, with a lot of strong and deep melodies, neoclassical/symphonic influences, virtuosic playing and slightly melancholic lyrics."

Timeless Fairytale

Of his songwriting, he adds, " ... pays homage to some great melodic, power, and neoclassical metal bands from the 80's and 90's for sure, but without simply paraphrasing their style." Of Henrik, he has high praise: "Henrik acts just like a storyteller. His charming and unique vocal timbre matches perfectly with the underlying 'arabesque' musical atmosphere that characterizes most of the tracks."

Jumping into the music then, Timeless Fairytale's music could be summarized as neo-classical guitar driven melodic and heavy power metal. The centerpiece of the song arrangement is, no doubt, Sellitto's epic neo-classical guitar work. The album has a (mostly) instrumental intro, Entering The Fairytale which is a romp across the fret board, and a foretaste of what is to come across the entire album. If you love guitar solos like I do, this album is killer. But that's not to cast aspersions on the other players. Brockmann is in fine form, singing strong, clean, and melodic with emotion and drama. The rhythm section delivers both power metal speed and rock groove.

At this point I would mention a few songs. But the most simple observation is that every one is terrific, and so, it's hard to pick favorites. I liked them all with kudos to Emptiness, New Dawn, Trust Your Heart, Forever And A Day, and the title track, A Story To Tell which is the perfect showcase for Brockmann's natural vocal talent.

All in all, Timeless Fairytale's A Story To Tale is an ambitious, energetic, and extremely entertaining album melodic and heavy power metal driven by some of the most epic and exciting neo-classical guitar work you will find. Quite recommended.
