After a brief three year absence from the studio, Swedish rockers Perfect Plan return with their fourth long player, Heart Of A Plan. This arrives after their vocalist, Kent Hilli, has been involved in a few other projects for Restless Spirits, T3nors, and his second solo album, 2023's Nothing Left To Lose. Perfect Plan's lineup remains steady with Hilli backed by Leif Ehlin (keys), Rolf Nordstrom (g), Mats Bystrom (b), and drummer Fredrik Forsberg

Hilli also comments on the new album: The new album is once again showcasing that we have developed and matured as a band in terms of songwriting and production. The melodies, riffs and hooks that we have created on this album are overall the best we've done so far. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished ... that unmistakable Perfect Plan sound that is the driving center of it all. And I think we have strengthened that sound and identity.

With the latest album, Perfect Plan's constant consistency is self-evident: the quintet easily executes classic AOR-infused melodic hard rock. Every song is crafted for maximum effect with strong song melody and vocal harmony, rock rhythm and groove, keyboard texture, memorable refrains and fantastic guitar solo. Perfect Plan is the perfect storm modern classic rock. You'll find some strong rockers, perhaps some metal edge with We Are Heroes, Too Tough, Heart Of A Lion, or heavier Danger On The Loose. Alternatively, the AOR groove pops on One Touch, Turn Up Radio, and the upbeat punch of Lady Mysterious. A smooth ballad comes with My Unsung Hero.

All said, and as expected from Perfect Plan, Heart Of A Lion is another well-crafted and entertaining album of their now signature and easily recognizable AOR-infused melodic hard rock. Easily recommended.
