Big Cock: Motherload
Sleaze/Melodic Hard Rock
Rating: 4.0/5.0

Big Cock: what a name! They made a name for themselves with their name alone. The call themselves the 'the hardest band in the land;' the land is America. This is a pretty ballsy call for any band. Essentially, Big Cock produces melodic rock with sleaze within a deliberate pornographic motif. Basically, this is basically rock and sex rock 'n' roll. This music is great, the lyric simply sleazy. Whether they are 'hardest band in the land' (as they say of themselves) is a moot argument. It's proud, loud rock with a melodic roll and lots of fun.

The more I listen to 'Motherload,' my ears are drawn to the glam/sleaze rock coming from Scandinavia. Is Big Cock doing it better? Frankly, I'm in favor of my American friends even though they are not producing anything different than their Scandinavian peers. Big Cock has the talent and soul to torture American rock with some great rock. Rock that has been missing since the 1980's.

Their My Space bio proclaims: 'Big Cock was meant to be. Lifelong friends Dave Henzerling (a.k.a. David Michael-Philips - King Kobra, Keel, Lizzy Borden) and drummer John Covington, along with the "Bad Motherf*cker" himself, Robert Mason (Lynch Mob, Cry of Love) and fellow partner in crime, Colby, followed their collective destinies to form a kick-ass rock 'n roll band that could only be called Big Cock.' Mr. Mason definitely has the chops to deliver great rock vocals. And Mr. Henzerling is no slouch on guitar: he rip rocks, rips and rolls in clean and efficient manner. My favorite tracks include 'Get A Load Of Me,' 'Breaking My Balls,' pure straight ahead rock, 'Bump And Grind,' as sleazy as Jenna Jameson can get, 'Road To Ruin,' simple rippin' guitar work, and the anthemic 'Live To Rock.' Special attention should be given to 'Don't Ask me To Be Faithful,' a ballad that is as simple as Big Cock's hedonistic philosophy. In the end, there's tremendous amout of terrific songs on this album.

Big Cock basically defines the vulgarity of simple sleazy and melodic rock. Don't look for morality. Big Cock are hardly poster boys for conservative values. You will be offended: it's that simple. What you will find is great American rock and roll. Very recommended for the music alone!

In Short

Big Cock delivers melodic sleaze/hard rock within a definitive pornographic context. Gene Simmons would be proud. Despite their nebulous moral convictions, this is by far some of the best American rock and roll that you will find in this day. Just listen to the music!
