With her easy vocal style and charming Southern country girl good looks, it's a wonder Kimberley Dahme was picked buy UK's Escape Music and not some big Nashville label. I'm sure there's more than one A&R guy standing in an employment line or kicking his own ass for not signing this delightful singer/songwriter. Though not quite the household name she should be, Ms. Dahme musical roots run deep singing since childhood through session and commercial work to a recent stint as the bass player for mega rockers, Boston, with solo work in between since 1999. Can't A Girl Change Her Mind, her fifth solo effort was originally published in America as You Make Me Believe.
Can't A Girl Change Her Mind is pure country (without the annoying twang or excessive pedal steel guitar) melodic rock from beginning to end. Dahme's rich and expressive vocal style can rouse like a rocker on the title track or Jet Lag City and then soothe you on Rock You Like a Baby or The Only Man. The songs are complete with successful and entertaining arrangements which place a high price on strong vocal arrangements and precise development. Along the way she is helped by Boston's Tom Sholz and Gary Pihl, Glen Burtnik (Styx), and Timothy Gaines (Stryper) to name only a few collaborators. Dahme tosses in a bit of electric dobro and saxophone for accent and spice which only makes Can't A Girl Change Her Mind more interesting. She finishes the album with With You, the song she wrote for Boston's Corporate America.
Kimberley Dahme's fifth work, Can't A Girl Change Her Mind once again expresses her delightful vocal style and impressive songwriting skills through the medium of melodic country rock.
