The Crocs are an upstart band from Milan Italy play some energetic indie rock on their second EP, ... And the Cradle Will Croc. The call their music power pop rock, and there's likely some truth to that. Yet, you'll hear nods to Eighties rock, some 21st century post punk rock, and maybe some alt/emo sounds.
Mostly, however, it's energetic melodic rock with a punchy bright sound. Sometimes I wander if they weren't going Eighties glam rock, but in power pop wrapper. I Wanna Trust Santa and This World have that strange mixture of Sunset Strip swagger with pop sweetness. Again all the songs are rather rollicking, no ballads here. They have a crispness to them, that punk rawness and vigor, that probably translates well to a live show. Best song the electric reworking of 1990 Eternal from their debut EP of the same name.
In the end, The Croc's ... And the Cradle Will Croc is interesting, somewhere between playful and assertive. However, the impression was not lasting; after two spins I was ready to put the CD on the shelf. Check them out and convince yourself.
