Oddland: Origin
Oddland Origin CD Album Review

Oddland: Origin

Modern Progressive Metal
1.5/5.0

Okay. I'll try to make this a brief and painless as possible. First, here's the facts. Oddland is a four-piece (you can tell by the picture) modern progressive metal band from Finland. Origin is their second album, now signed with Sensory Records.

As for Origin, I couldn't listen to this album. I couldn't get past the first three songs: Esotericism, Thanatos, and Penumbra. Thanatos had some melody, but the other two songs? Horrifyingly torturous to the ears. I couldn't go on. I didn't want to. Whatever Oddland thinks they're creating, I'm not sure if it's music at all. It's clatter, cacophonous clatter at that. But, like I said, I gave up after three songs. I simply didn't want to know what followed. It's been sometime since I found an band and their album nearly unlistenable, but such is the case. Explore for yourself. You may feel differently.

The Bottom Line

It's been sometime since I found an band and their album nearly unlistenable, but such is the case for Oddland's Origin.
