Arriving from the "Where have the been?" circular file is Swedish metal band Persuader. Their last album The Fiction Maze appeared six years ago, and that was after another long eight year absence. Since then the band has been trimmed down to a quartet, adding new rhythm guitarist Fredrik Mannberg from Guillotine and Nocturnal Rites. Now signed to the Frontiers Music label, Persuader offers their fifth studio album, Necromancy.
I'm going to keep this review simple and to the point because, mostly, I have little to say. Persuader plays, essentially, power metal heavily infused with thrash metal. Their sound and songs are fast, heavy, and raging from riffs to rhythm section to vocals. (There may even be a touch of death vocals within Reign Of Darkness.) Persuader's metal approach is pound and pummel, and take no prisoners. One thing Persuader has going form them is guitarist Emil Norberg and his impressive guitar solos. In the end, I found Persuader to be a formidable assault on my metal senses. But, if you like your power metal thrash-full, fast, and raging, check out and support Persuader and their new album Necromancy.
